Melinoe

MELINOE, is, Gr. Μηλινόη, ης, ( Tab. X.) eine Regentinn der Larven oder Gespenster. Jupiter zeugete sie, unter der Gestalt des Pluto, mit der Proserpina, und sie war daher zweyfärbig, halb weiß, halb schwarz. Sie schreckete die Menschen mit allerhand fürchterlichen Gesichtern und erschien bald in lichter, bald in dunkler Gestalt. Orpheus Hymn. 70.
