Alóas

ALÓAS, ădis, Gr. Ἀλωὰς, άδος, ein Beynamen der Ceres, von ἀλωὰ, eine Tenne, weil auch diese ihr, als der Göttinn des Getraides, geheiliget war. Ihr zu Ehren wurden insonderheit auch die Dreschfeste Ἀλῶα oder Ἀλῶα, im December von den Ackerleuten zu Athen gehalten, und heißt sie übrigens auch so wohl ἀλωῒς, ίδος, als ἀλωὰς, άδος. Gyrald.
