BEBRỸCE, es, Gr. Βεβρύκη, ης, (⇒ Tab. XVIII.) eine von des Danaus 50 Töchtern, welche zu ihrem Bräutigame den Chthonius oder auch Hippolytus, von den 50 Söhnen des Aegyptus, bekam; allein nach einigen auch die erste Hochzeitnacht umbrachte, Apollod. lib. II. c. 1. §. 5. nach andern aber leben ließ, Eustath. ad Dionys. Orb. Descr. v. 803. Sect. 113. und sonst auch, allein fälschlich, Bryce genannt. Apollod. & Gale l. c. Jedoch soll von ihr das Land Bebrycia den Namen bekommen haben, als wohin sie sich mit dem Hippolitus gewendet, und von den Barbarn gar hoch gehalten worden, weil sie dieselbe in den ägyptischen Wissenschaften unterwiesen.
